Yesterday marked my 2 year anniversary at Results Direct and I couldn’t be happier about my career. I’ve gained an unbelievable amount of knowledge since I’ve started, and I’m luck that I get to work with intelligent, talented and funny people every day. I now realize how crappy my first job was—now I have an actual role, complete with a load of responsibilities and respect from both coworkers and clients. None of which I had at my first job.
In two years, I’ve designed 15 association websites and several iPad and iPhone apps, many which are great portfolio pieces. Above is my favorite website design to date—a consumer-facing site called The Story of Chocolate. Unfortunately, the build, done by a coworker that’s no longer with us, didn’t turn out as graceful as the design, but I’m still happy with it. In fact, I worked with a print company after the site launch to get the assets to successfully transfer to print, and the print piece ended up winning an Associations TRENDS silver award for best Educational Program. They were nice enough to send me a final copy of the booklet (which is displayed in my office), and it’s awesome to see something tangible with my designs on it, instead of just a URL floating around the internet. If only all of my clients could be focused on chocolate!
I wish I could share my runner-up favorite, but the site isn’t live yet and because of that, it’s still top secret stuff! The client is currently living with this site, so you can imagine that they are just as anxious to get their new site up and running.
Thank you to everyone at RD for a great 2 years—and a special shout-out to JM, who actually reads my blog!
